#HDH – Blasted Wenches

Hump Day Hook is a weekly blog hop where participants post one paragraph from a published book or work in progress. I’m really enjoying this blog hop and love meeting so many lovely and talented writers. So now it’s time for all of you to meet my Irish paranormal mercenary twins Kieran and Sean from Bound by Blood, a gay paranormal romance series set in modern-day NYC. This excerpt is from the beginning of the first book in the series, which I hope to be able to publish later in the year.

“A demon, a vampire, and a werewolf walk into a bar…”

Kieran sighed and rolled his eyes as he listened to his twin butcher the joke even worse than usual, his drunken slurs as heavy and thick as the old-fashioned mead that he continued to order. When a waving hand shot up to signal another round to the bartender, Kieran opened one side of his jacket to reveal the wicked dagger strapped to his shoulder holster, an obvious threat to the bartender should he be foolish enough to continue to serve his brother. Then he stared into the depths of his beer, the same beer he had ordered when they had arrived at the tavern two hours earlier, wondering how he and his twin brother could be so different when they shared the same genetic structure.

“Where is that blasted wench? I want another drink!” Sean yelled out into the interior of the dark tavern, drawing several irritated glares.
